Jack; age 26 (1995) born in Zoeterwoude Dorp. He currently lives in our home there and is working as finance trainnee at ANWB, after he finished (2nd) Master in Public Administration at Leiden University. He lives there with his girlfriend Ailsa Sharkey who also attends the University of Leiden doing a MA in Book and Digital Media Studies. They moved from Scotland, this is her first time moving to a different country and she is loving it in the Netherlands. They also have a dog named Zara.

 

Jack has lived in The Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Belgium and Scotland. While in Belgium he lived with the Ahmad family for a year, who for him have become a second family. He visits them whenever he gets the chance and still appreciates them taking him in. In Scotland he did his bachelor’s in economics at Stirling and his master’s in economics at St. Andrews. 

 

Jack enjoys playing 5-a-side football, reading, snowboarding, skiing, badminton, and talking nonsense, politics and philosophy (which are all the same thing). Ailsa and Jack often play beach tennis, badminton and baking (technically Ailsa does the baking and Jack just eats the delicious results). 

 

Academically Jack is interested in Intergenerational mobility in earnings (the relationship between how much children earn based on how much their parents earn), which was the subject of his Master’s thesis: “The Social Capital Dimension to Intergenerational Mobility in Earnings”; and he is also interested in Macroeconomics, in particular the European Union, which was the subject of his bachelor’s thesis.
